Important Note

Note: If collecting a urine specimen for this test, it must be 20-50 mL of FIRST CATCH / DIRTY urine. Clean catch specimens are not acceptable for testing.

Note: Urine is the only acceptable specimen for males.

Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Urine – First Catch / Dirty urine collected into a sterile container (urine, refrigerated is acceptable up to 8 days after collection). Male and Female.

 

 

Female Genital – Xpert Swab Specimen Collection Kit

 

Specimen Volume:

Urine – 20-50 mL

 

Collection Instructions:

Urine: First Catch / First Void ONLY. Do not clense the genital area and collect the first portion of urine up to 50mL.

Vaginal/Endocervical Swab: Use the large swab provided in the kit to clean away any mucous from the sample site and discard. Use the small flocked swab provided in the kit to sample the vagina/cervix.
