Test Code FSCOV SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Qualitative Real -Time-PCR
Methodology
TH UW SARS-CoV-2 Real-time RT-PCR assay targets two distinct regions of SARS-CoV-2 (the causative agent for COVID-19), the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase gene and the E gene.
Amplification of both targets results in a presumptive positive test result, while amplification of one of the two targets results in an inconclusive result, and amplification of neither target results a negative result.
Samples with positive or inconclusive test results require further testing and will be redirected to CDC and/or state public health lab.
