Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:

Urine – Sterile Container (urine, refrigerated is acceptable up to 8 days after collection).

Female Genital, Throat, Rectum – Xpert Swab Specimen Collection Kit

Specimen Volume:

Urine – 10-50 mL

Collection Instructions:

Urine: First Catch / First Void ONLY. Do not clense the genital area and collect the first portion of urine up to 50mL.

Vaginal/Endocervical Swab: Use the large swab provided in the kit to clean away any mucous from the sample site and discard. Use the small flocked swab provided in the kit to sample the vagina/cervix.

Throat / Rectum: Use the small flocked swab provided in the kit to sample the area.
