Specimen Requirements
- Collect
- Serum separator tube. (SST)
- Specimen Preparation
- Remove serum from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.15 mL)
- Storage/Transport Temperature
- Refrigerated.
- Unacceptable Conditions
- CSF. Contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed or lipemic specimens.
- Stability
- After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year

Test Information
First-line serologic screening test for suspected Lyme disease. Positive or equivocal results must be confirmed by immunoblot.
Reference Interval :
0.90 LI or less: Negative - C6 peptide antibody
to B. burgdorferi not detected.
0.91 - 1.09 LI: Equivocal - Repeat
testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.
1.10 LI or greater: Positive - C6 peptide antibody to
B. burgdorferi detected.
